Every screenshot, filed and searchable.
Shelvo lives in your Mac's menu bar. Take a screenshot the usual way and it asks for a name and a folder, reads the text in it, and lets you find it later by any word inside.
Free for your first 50 screenshots. macOS 13 Ventura or later.
What it does
Name it as you take it
Use ⌘⇧3, ⌘⇧4 or ⌘⇧5 as always. A small prompt appears with a title suggested from the text on screen. Press Return to save, Esc to leave the file as it is.
Search the text inside
Shelvo reads every screenshot with Apple's on-device text recognition. Type a word you remember, an order number, an error message, and the matching shots show up as you type.
Copy text out
Open a screenshot and press ⌘⇧C to copy all its text, or select just the part you need. No retyping from a picture.
Real files, real folders
Your screenshots stay ordinary image files in ordinary Finder folders. Shelvo renames and moves them; it never locks them into a private format.
Everything stays on your Mac
- Text recognition and search run on your Mac. Your screenshots and their text are never uploaded.
- No account, no analytics, no tracking. This website has none either.
- Shelvo goes online for two things only: checking for updates, and activating your licence when you buy.
- Shelvo only opens the folders you pick for it (it runs in Apple's App Sandbox).
